Introduces blockchain identification, voting and payment services as a demonstration of the Seoul blockchain standard platform<\/strong><\/p>\n

ICONLOOP demonstrated the\u00a0\u2018Blockchain Seoul\u2019 application<\/strong>\u00a0at the \u2018Seoul International Digital Festival 2018<\/a>\u2019 held at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) on October 29th and 30th.<\/p>\n

ICONLOOP, when\u00a0introducing Seoul\u2019s blockchain standard platform, demonstrated the blockchain service exclusively\u00a0<\/strong>for event participants to experience the future of the city of Seoul. During the event, the site was packed with over 250 people, including ordinary citizens, blockchain professionals and investors from the blockchain industry. The service was carried out via ICON\u2019s TestNet IRC2 (ICON platform-based token) and the demo application.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Blockchain Seoul\u2019 application demonstrated 3-steps of services, which consist of\u00a0\u2018Blockchain ID\u2019, \u2018Blockchain Voting\u2019, and \u2018Blockchain Payment\u2019<\/strong>.\u00a0\u2018Blockchain ID\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0is generated with an input of basic personal information. The next step,\u00a0\u2018Blockchain Voting\u2019,<\/strong>\u00a0was linked to Blockchain ID, followed by voter identification, and the results of the ballot count were relayed in real time via electronic boards. The\u00a0\u2018Blockchain Payment\u2019\u00a0<\/strong>service allowed users to spend cryptocurrency, offered as a reward for participation in blockchain voting to pay for the product, and is configured to scan the product QR code in an offline venue to purchase the product immediately.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have prepared this promotion for citizens to feel more confident about the practicality of blockchain technology,\u201d said JH Kim, the CEO of ICONLOOP and Council Member of the ICON Foundation. He added, \u201cBlockchain technology will ensure privacy rights, realize direct democracy, and further promote the revitalization of local commercial and non-profit sectors in the form of local currency\u201d.<\/p>\n

In August, ICONLOOP was selected as an operator of\u00a0Seoul\u2019s standard blockchain platform for the \u2018Seoul Blockchain Demonstration Project\u2019<\/strong>, which is commissioned by the\u00a0Seoul Metropolitan Government<\/a>. This project is a follow-up project of Seoul Metropolitan Government\u2019s \u2018Information Strategy Planning for Building Blockchain Based Municipal Innovation (ISP)\u2019 conducted last year. It includes the introduction of the Seoul standard blockchain platform, two leading blockchain businesses, and three verification businesses for the provision of blockchain-based administration services.<\/p>\n

ICONLOOP has been applying\u00a0loopchain, ICONLOOP\u2019s self-developed blockchain engine, to Seoul Blockchain Standard Platform, a used car trading system, and mobile-voting system<\/strong>. Also, verification business is planned for services closely related to citizens\u2019 lives, such as\u00a0citizen card, mileage integration, subcontract payment<\/strong>, and others.<\/p>\n

Through this event, the ICONLOOP Team also met ICONists from various countries including the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States, Singapore, Indonesia, and Luxembourg.
