ICONLOOP Recruits Platform Veterans from Kakao and SK Planet to Expand Its Public Blockchain Ecosystem

Yongjun Jung, who joins ICONLOOP as Director of Business Partnerships in October, is an industry veteran who worked at Naver and Samsung Electronics before serving as Vice President of Social Platform at Kakao. Woong Kim, appointed Director of Product, worked at Naver and SK Telecom before leading groups responsible for a range of services at SK Planet. Drawing on more than a decade of experience and expertise in the platform industry, the two directors will provide consulting and partnership support to companies and teams interested in blockchain technology as they commercialize their services.

"Through its accelerator program and demo days, ICON has been discovering a wide range of DApps (decentralized applications) and working alongside those teams to make the value of blockchain convincing to real users," said Jung. "Going forward, I will spare no effort in supporting blockchain project teams from business strategy through execution so that they can deliver visible results."

"Many enterprises also struggle with how to apply blockchain technology to their existing businesses, and because most blockchain platforms are developed overseas — in the United States, China and elsewhere — the reality is that Korean companies cannot get sufficient technical support," said Kim. "We will support Korean companies so that they can lead the global blockchain industry ecosystem."

"Since the smart contract-based mainnet 3.0 update on the 18th of last month, ICON has largely completed its technical groundwork and its support system for DApp development," said ICONLOOP CEO JH Kim.
