ICONLOOP Joins Pilot Project to Introduce a Standard Blockchain Platform for the Seoul Metropolitan Government
The project is a follow-up to the Information Strategy Plan (ISP) for blockchain-based municipal innovation that the Seoul Metropolitan Government carried out last year, and it covers the introduction of the city's standard blockchain platform, two flagship blockchain projects, and three proof-of-concept projects for delivering blockchain-based administrative services. Its significance lies in serving as the starting point for verifying and building a Seoul-style blockchain business that will later extend across the city's administrative operations as a whole.
Over six months beginning in August 2018, ICONLOOP plans to apply loopchain, its in-house blockchain engine, to Seoul's standard blockchain platform, the M-Voting citizen voting service, and trust-building in used-car trading at Janganpyeong. At the same time, the company will develop smart contracts optimized for the administrative systems closest to citizens' daily lives, carrying out preliminary blockchain verification work on integrated citizen card authentication, consolidation of Seoul's mileage programs, and subcontract payment.
To that end, ICONLOOP attended the 2018 Seoul Metropolitan Blockchain Pilot Project kick-off meeting, held on September 12 at the Smart Information Support Center on the third floor of Building 1 of the Seosomun Annex of Seoul City Hall. Officials from the relevant Seoul city departments, along with representatives of the system vendors involved in the National Election Commission's blockchain project and in the M-Voting and Janganpyeong pilot projects, also attended.
"This Seoul blockchain pilot project will serve as a bridgehead for extending ICONLOOP's loopchain into Seoul's blockchain platform," said ICONLOOP CEO JH Kim.
