ICONLOOP Provides Consulting for the National Election Commission's Blockchain-Based Next-Generation Election System
The project aims to set the direction for building a next-generation election system based on core Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain, and ICONLOOP will take part in the consulting work for the design of a blockchain-based voting and vote-counting system.
Building on loopchain, the high-performance blockchain engine it developed in house, ICONLOOP has earned recognition for its technical excellence through blockchain projects with a wide range of Korean companies, consortia and government bodies, and it is also the developer of ICON, a global interchain project.
Working closely with the National Election Commission and the National Information Society Agency (NIA), ICONLOOP plans to explore how blockchain technology can be applied across the current election systems as a whole — from candidate registration through voting and vote counting — and to propose ways of applying blockchain to existing remote voting such as overseas voting and shipboard voting, improving convenience for voters while safeguarding the transparency, fairness and confidentiality of elections.
