ICONLOOP Wins ICT Regulatory Sandbox Temporary Permit for Its Blockchain-Based Mobile Driver's License Service
The temporary permit allows a mobile driver's license to be carried in Zzeung (https://zzeung.id), ICONLOOP's blockchain DID identity verification service. ICONLOOP's mobile driver's license is a service that securely stores a driver's license on the user's smartphone through the Zzeung app, so it can be carried on mobile and submitted easily whenever needed. Built on blockchain DID technology, the service prevents forgery, alteration, and repudiation through blockchain. When a mobile driver's license is submitted, the license stored on the user's smartphone is verified and submitted through the blockchain rather than through a central authority, so personal data such as usage history is not transmitted to third parties and can be controlled and managed by the user alone — protecting privacy as well.
The service is scheduled for release in the second half of 2021. Alongside the financial-sector identity verification, entry authentication, and credential verification it currently provides through Zzeung, ICONLOOP plans to advance the service further — adding a mobile driver's license so that individuals can gather their scattered information together with a variety of credentials and manage and control it safely on their own.
