ICONLOOP Signs Agreement with the Seoul Blockchain Support Center to Jointly Develop a Blockchain-Linked (DID) Visitor Management System
December 16, 2020, Seoul — ICONLOOP (CEO JH Kim), a leading Korean blockchain company, is taking part in the joint development of a DID visitor management system for the Seoul Blockchain Support Center, based on its own DID platform.
On the 15th, the Seoul Blockchain Support Center signed an agreement for the joint development of a blockchain-linked visitor management system with leading blockchain companies in the field of decentralized identifiers ("DID"), including ICONLOOP, Fullstack, and Empty Corporation. The agreement was arranged for the purpose of jointly developing a system that manages the identities of Seoul Blockchain Support Center visitors using DID.
The three companies, ICONLOOP among them, plan to jointly develop and install a QR code–based DID visitor management system at the reception desk on the 8th floor of the Seoul Blockchain Support Center in January next year. Once the system is in place, data on outside visitors to the center will be encrypted and recorded and managed on the blockchain, with the blockchain used to verify whether it has been forged or altered. Blockchain DID technology, which lets visitors keep, manage, and control their own information on their phones, also allows personal identity information to be protected and submitted securely.
The Seoul Blockchain Support Center — opened by the Seoul Metropolitan Government last December as the only space run by a Korean local government to host and incubate blockchain startups — currently houses 35 blockchain startups. Beyond helping prevent the spread of COVID-19, the system is expected to substantially improve the efficiency and transparency of entry-record management, strengthening security for the center's resident companies.
"It means a great deal to us to be able to jointly develop the DID visitor management system for the Seoul Blockchain Support Center, home to so many blockchain startups," said ICONLOOP CEO JH Kim. "We will do our utmost to see our DID platform and technology used in an ever wider range of fields to produce meaningful results."
