ICONLOOP's VisitMe Electronic Guestbook Service Passes 30,000 Users
August 21, 2020, Seoul — ICONLOOP (CEO JH Kim), a leading Korean blockchain company, announced that its QR-based electronic entry log service, the VisitMe (www.visitme.app) electronic guestbook service, has passed 200 applicant businesses and 30,000 users just two months into being offered free of charge.
The VisitMe electronic guestbook service is a QR-based electronic entry log service that digitizes the handwritten visitor logs previously used to trace the movements of confirmed cases. Visitors simply scan a QR code placed at the venue to check in, so no separate equipment or staff is needed for QR scanning, and a QR code package is provided when a business signs up — greatly reducing the burden of adoption. ICONLOOP has offered the service free of charge since June as part of efforts to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Two months into the free offering, more than 200 venues have applied to adopt the service and the number of users has passed 30,000. The VisitMe electronic guestbook service has been adopted at a wide range of facilities in particular — sports venues such as Seoul World Cup Stadium, large hotels including the Conrad and the Hilton, and shared offices — and around 20 churches are actively using it as well.
An ICONLOOP representative pointed to the ability to tailor the service to the characteristics of each venue as the reason it has spread so quickly in such a short time. For venues visited by large numbers of unspecified people, such as convenience stores and cafés, the service allows simple visit authentication by scanning a QR code and entering personal details, with no app installation required. For facilities where the same visitors come and go repeatedly — churches, hospitals, and academies among them — visitors can enter their information in advance through the VisitMe app, after which a single QR code scan completes visit authentication quickly and conveniently with no further verification steps.
Unlike a handwritten guestbook, the service uses each person's own mobile device, so there is no concern about personal data being exposed to other visitors and no issue of sharing potential infection vectors such as pens. The digitized entry records also allow a fast and accurate response when a case is confirmed — another major advantage of the service.
"With the recent resurgence of COVID-19 bringing the importance of fast, accurate case tracing and response back to the fore, ICONLOOP plans to keep offering this service free of charge until COVID-19 comes to an end in Korea," said ICONLOOP CEO JH Kim.
