ICONLOOP Supports Contactless Environments by Offering VisitMe, a Blockchain-Based Visitor Credential Service, and broof, a Certificate Issuance Service, Free of Charge

ICONLOOP is offering VisitMe free of charge to companies and institutions that need to manage appointments and visitors, such as hospitals and building information desks, and broof free of charge to businesses and individuals issuing certificates remotely. VisitMe comes with 2,000 free visitor passes over the first two months from initial deployment, while broof automatically credits 50 issuances on sign-up at the service site (www.broof.io), with additional volume available on request. Applications for the free offering are open for one month starting today.
VisitMe, one of the two services ICONLOOP is providing at no cost, is a blockchain-based visitor credential service that uses decentralized identifier (DID) technology to verify a visitor's identity in advance so that check-in on site can be contactless. A company or institution registers the visit details in advance and sends out an individual visitor pass; the visitor then scans a QR code posted at the destination through the VisitMe mobile application and is admitted immediately.
Until now, entering a company or institution has meant inconveniences such as filling in a visitor log by hand and handing over a physical ID document like a resident registration card in exchange for an entry pass, or calling a staff member from the building lobby and waiting to be escorted in. With VisitMe, visitors can enter quickly and conveniently with a pass issued in advance and no waiting time, while companies and institutions can admit only visitors verified beforehand, dramatically improving operational efficiency. Handling visitor information digitally and protecting it with blockchain technology strengthens security as well.
The other service being offered free of charge, broof, is ICONLOOP's blockchain-based digital certificate issuance service. It lets institutions issue certificates without building a separate database system, cutting the cost of issuing and storing paper documents. Recipients, for their part, can easily look up their blockchain certificates anytime and anywhere, and can protect their personal information by choosing for themselves what certificate details to disclose.
Numerous companies and institutions currently use broof to issue digital certificates such as completion certificates and letters of appointment. POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology) recently drew attention as the first case in Korea of a university issuing blockchain diplomas to all of its graduates. With COVID-19 spreading, POSTECH postponed its 2019 academic year commencement ceremony, originally scheduled for February 7, to July, and instead issued blockchain diplomas through broof to all 828 bachelor's, master's, and doctoral graduates of that day, including those who graduated in August 2019. The move attracted considerable interest both for the convenience it offered students who could not receive physical diplomas in person and for the way blockchain's properties fundamentally block forgery and falsification of academic credentials such as university certificates.
