On October 27, we officially registered MyID 2.0, our DID and blockchain-based identity verification service, on the Public Procurement Service's Digital Service Support System (Digital Market). It is the first blockchain wallet and ID service in Korea to get there, and the only blockchain SaaS offering available to public institutions — a meaningful step forward on both counts.
MyID 2.0 is the core service of the K-BTF pilot program run by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). It is shared blockchain infrastructure built specifically for public institutions, designed so that a DID and blockchain-based service can be adopted on a subscription basis within a week — no infrastructure build-out required.
MyID 2.0 is made up of
- DID authentication: blockchain-based decentralized identity verification
- Wallet features: unified management of assets and verification records
- PDS: users control their own data permissions directly
- BFS: blockchain file storage technology that fills the gaps in IPFS
Of these, BFS is PARAMETA's own development, produced through MSIT's Blockchain Technology Development Project for the Data Economy.
The wallet in particular is linked to DID, so users can securely manage assets, tokens, and verification records, and it extends flexibly across a wide range of public services.
Digital Market is the integrated platform the Public Procurement Service operates so that public institutions can adopt private-sector digital services quickly and efficiently. Getting listed means clearing demanding requirements around security certification, operational stability, and public-sector applicability.
For SaaS offerings, CSAP (Cloud Security Assurance Program) certification is mandatory. PARAMETA met that requirement this past May, becoming the first blockchain service in Korea to earn CSAP certification. With that, the barrier to bringing blockchain-based ID services into the public sector has dropped dramatically.
MyID 2.0 is also being applied to the blockchain-based battery passport platform currently underway in Busan. It manages full-lifecycle data for EV batteries securely on a DID and PDS foundation, laying the groundwork for compliance with the EU's Digital Product Passport (DPP) regulation.
Listing on the digital service marketplace has dramatically lowered the barrier to adoption for public institutions.
