PARAMETA and battery specialist PMGROW have unveiled an EV battery remaining-life certification service at InterBattery Europe 2023.
PARAMETA has unveiled an EV battery remaining-life certification service together with battery specialist PMGROW at InterBattery Europe 2023, currently under way in Munich, Germany.
The service works by fitting an electric vehicle with an on-board diagnostics (OBD) data collection device, analyzing the data it gathers, assessing the battery's remaining life and condition, and issuing a certificate — one designed to be used for auto insurance, used-car transactions and the like. On the development side, PARAMETA's blockchain technology provides trust and transparency across all battery-related data, while PMGROW's artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms raise the accuracy of battery evaluation and diagnosis.
PARAMETA applied PARAMETA N (NFT as a Service) to the service in particular, issuing and managing per-battery metadata as NFTs so that a battery's history and ownership can be traced transparently, strengthening trust in the distribution process. It also used DID and PDS — core technologies of PARAMETA W (Wallet as a Service) — to assign a decentralized identity to each user and use case, reinforcing user self-sovereignty over personal battery data.

To build broad public trust, the two companies plan to finalize a cooperation framework with a leading global certification body and launch the service in Korea in early September. As Korea's first EV battery evaluation and certification service, it is expected to enable value assessments far better suited to electric vehicles, which until now have been priced for used-car and insurance purposes on mileage and vehicle condition, just like internal combustion cars.
The service was developed as part of the "battery remaining-life certification service" project — the sole intensive project within the 2023 Blockchain Private Sector Intensive and Diffusion Program run by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to boost the blockchain industry.
