PARAMETA CEO JH Kim takes the panel at the first Decenter Web3 Forum

PARAMETA CEO JH Kim took part as a panelist in the first Decenter Web3 Forum, held at 10 a.m. on April 27 at Hashed Lounge in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul.

Hosted by the Seoul Economic Daily and Decenter, the forum ran under the theme "Security Tokens, and What Comes Next / Talking About Blockchain's Killer Content." Alongside PARAMETA CEO JH Kim, the panel included Haechi Labs CEO Gunki Moon, Lambda256 group head Wonho Cho, and Blocko CTO Yonggeon Kim, who spoke and debated freely.

The forum was structured as two rounds of panel discussion under two agendas — "Security Tokens (ST) as Seen by Web3 Technology Companies" and "Blockchain: What Is the Next Killer Content?" — followed by a Q&A session.

Take a look at the articles below for a closer view of the discussion. :)

Coverage of PARAMETA from the first Decenter Web3 Forum

PARAMETA CEO JH Kim: "Security token regulation is a question of trust in operations, not in the technology"

Kim said the security token guidelines are indeed rough in their current form, but he sees the attempt itself positively as they are still being fleshed out, and he expects regulation to become more efficient once trustworthiness can be verified. Blockchain technology runs on code, he added, so whether it can be trusted is something you can confirm clearly — which means trust in blockchain technology really means trust in the operators using it.

He also predicted that decentralized identifiers (DID) would be where mainstream adoption happens, noting that overseas blockchain services are all launching on a DID basis, and that as decentralized networks emerge to handle personal data that cannot be put on-chain, the field feels like it is entering a mainstream phase.

Games using NFTs and tokens — and DID identity verification drawing attention too [Blockchain NOW]

At the Decenter Web3 Forum, executives from blockchain technology companies agreed that NFT-based services are the most likely starting point for mainstream blockchain adoption. NFTs first drew attention through digital artworks and profile pictures (PFP), they explained, but the real expansion will come from play-to-earn (P2E) games. PARAMETA CEO JH Kim added that blockchain games have already reached the point of showing real performance, and that he believes full-scale mainstream adoption is close.

Some argued that DID services could be killer content in their own right. PARAMETA is building Perme, a Web 3.0 data protocol that uses blockchain storage to let users own and trade their data — profiles, content, behavioral data and more. Kim said recently launched overseas blockchain services tend to apply DID technology by default, and that DID is entering the mainstream.

"Liquidity is the key issue for security tokens — issuance should be allowed on public chains too" [Blockchain NOW]

PARAMETA CEO JH Kim said trust in blockchain comes from governance and how a network is operated, and that rather than demanding unconditional trust in the technology, it matters more to respond flexibly to the market's concerns — a call, in effect, for improving the framework through trial and error.
