In the multichain era, the commercialization of decentralized trustless bridges means appchains will draw far more attention and really come into their own from 2023 onward. An appchain is a blockchain network built for a single function or application, which gives you enough freedom to configure each feature exactly as you want and optimize the chain around the app.
I also expect connections between chains to move into full gear, and UX improvements to produce a chain-agnostic environment where you can use Web3 services without ever being conscious of which chain you are on.
On top of that, I expect the institutionalization of the blockchain industry to accelerate sharply in 2023. As the rules governing tokens such as STOs and NFTs become clearer, tax and accounting standards will settle into place, making token issuance and distribution viable.
