ICONLOOP has won the contract to build the Gyeongsangbuk-do Digital Identity Verification MyData Platform. The project aims to deliver digital innovation across both the provincial economy and provincial administration by building an integrated service platform that centers on residents' needs and runs on next-generation identity verification technology.
The platform will use accumulated data from welfare, administration, identity verification and other areas to provide tailored services, and it will return the resulting benefits to residents as the owners of that data. Residents will be able to turn their own data into NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) and trade them freely — a service built on MyData.
To kick things off, ICONLOOP attended the project launch briefing for the Gyeongsangbuk-do Digital Identity Verification MyData Platform, held on July 6 at Dongnakgwan Hall in the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government complex.
ICONLOOP will issue Gyeongbuk resident cards and youth cards that apply DID (Decentralized Identifier) technology on top of loopchain, its own blockchain core engine, making identity verification far simpler. It will also build a non-face-to-face subsidy payment system on its in-house PDS (Personal Data Store) technology, improving both the safety and the convenience of storing and managing personal data.
With a Gyeongbuk resident card or youth card running on the DID identity platform, residents can easily check whether they qualify for a subsidy and apply for it remotely. Beyond administrative services, the cards also support conveniences such as community features and provincial announcements, and QR check-in at public facilities and tourist sites is planned next.
ICONLOOP's PDS technology is also applied when public MyData from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is used to verify a Gyeongbuk resident card, so that sensitive personal data stays safe both in storage and in use. The store itself cannot see an individual's data, and only the people that individual authorizes can access it, only for the period allowed — which is why the technology is expected to extend to storing and sharing personal medical records down the road.

Through this platform, built on its own blockchain technology, ICONLOOP plans to build an ecosystem in which residents — the owners of the information — enjoy convenient, secure administrative services and control and manage their own data themselves.
