If you need a mainnet, come to ICONLOOP

The latest ICONLOOP interview with TechM, Temterview, is out.

The interview focuses on two things: where ICONLOOP stands today as it prepares for the Web3 era that is already arriving across virtual assets, NFTs, the metaverse and more, and its vision as a Web3 partner that wants anyone shifting to Web3 to be able to build, customize, and run a mainnet fit for their purpose.

Backed by proprietary core blockchain technology and wide-ranging experience, ICONLOOP keeps working through what the shift to Web3 demands and keeps pushing innovation aimed at the still-unsolved blockchain trilemma (scalability, security, decentralization). We would love your interest and support for where ICONLOOP is now and where it is going. :)

If You Want to Build a Mainnet, Come to ICONLOOP

ICONLOOP's new business can be summed up in a single line: help anyone build a mainnet, easily.

.

ICONLOOP has accumulated mainnet-building experience through the development of the ICON mainnet and through a number of government projects. When it comes to mainnet technology and operations, the company is widely regarded as having more know-how than anyone else. This new business, too, is possible precisely because of that experience.

"We will provide full-stack technology and consulting for platform construction, from mainnet design and build through to token economics, and at the same time support the implementation of every Web3 service that can run on a blockchain — non-fungible tokens (NFTs), DID, DeFi and more," said CEO JH Kim. "We plan to develop this business not as a simple technology supplier but as a collaborating partner, building the ecosystem together, from consulting through to token economics."

Build a mainnet with ICONLOOP's technology and you can easily realize a multi-chain ecosystem, connected to other chains through interchain technology. It also supports a variety of smart contract execution environments, so you can write contracts on JVM, EVM, or WASM, and bring in and run contracts that already exist on other blockchains.

No mainnet is 100% safe — what matters is how fast and how precisely you respond

On the mainnet problems making news lately, CEO JH Kim explained: "When you fork an existing blockchain that is still under development, you end up customizing parts of it — governance, token economics and so on. If you have not secured the core technology at that point, it becomes very hard to respond properly to failures or to the side effects of your own modifications."

Since 2016, on the strength of loopchain, its in-house blockchain core engine, ICONLOOP has supplied technology to everything from public blockchains such as the ICON project to Jeju Safe Code, a nationwide public service that passed 100 million cumulative submissions.

"That experience took us through many rounds of traffic stress testing," Kim said. "The technical know-how we built up handling genuinely large-scale traffic means we can prepare thoroughly in advance and respond quickly when something does go wrong."

.

Kim pointed out that ICON has run stably, with no major issues, even while processing a million transactions at a time. He added that when ICON was upgraded to ICON 2.0 last October, the core was replaced wholesale — and the know-how that came with it is now internalized, which is why he is more confident about safety than anyone.

HAVAH project launching this year — an era where NFTs move across mainnets is coming

There is already a project ICONLOOP is helping build a mainnet for: the HAVAH project, previously known as Spera. HAVAH is an interchain NFT entertainment platform being built jointly by 2bytes, a company with long experience in the game industry, and ICONLOOP. Created to pursue the universal use of NFTs, it puts forward a vision in which NFTs escape the limits of being scattered across networks or locked to a single chain, opening up experiences across gaming, social, finance and more.

CEO JH Kim predicted that an era of using NFTs without being tied to any particular mainnet will open before long. Once interchain technology is commercialized, he explained, anyone will be able to move freely across mainnets and put their NFTs to use.

"The HAVAH project is due to open within the year, and I think it will show that NFTs can move freely," Kim said. "For example, an NFT sitting on ICON could be converted to Klaytn or Solana and traded on OpenSea." Once this technology is commercialized, the familiar sight of a project putting a vote to its community about migrating off an unstable mainnet in order to issue NFTs should disappear.

More companies will need mainnets, and ICONLOOP wants to help with the Web3 transition

"If all you have is a token economy between users, you can just pay a fee and use an existing mainnet. But if you want to structure new incentives and build an ecosystem that extends all the way to hardware, you end up having to build your own mainnet," Kim said. "ICONLOOP will release a package that makes building a mainnet easy, and we intend to be the best possible partner in helping you customize a mainnet that fits your purpose."
