ICONLOOP has built a blockchain DID-based integrated identity verification system at CHANGeUP GROUND Pohang. It is a landmark case: DID applied across an entire building and every resident company inside it.
The CHANGeUP GROUND opening ceremony was held yesterday, July 21. Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Pohang Mayor Lee Kang-deok and POSCO CEO Choi Jeong-woo were among the guests who came to mark the launch of a center set to become another Pacific Valley. The space tour that followed the ceremony drew a great deal of interest, with a hands-on introduction to the places where DID is at work, starting with building access.
Built entirely on ICONLOOP's own technology, the system applies blockchain DID-based identity verification first to access control, visitor invitations and office equipment use, and will later extend across all of CHANGeUP GROUND to meeting room and rest facility reservations, the parking management app and more. Beyond that, members of POSCO, POSTECH and the Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST) will be able to enter and use the facilities simply by proving their affiliation through DID-based verification, without registering separately with CHANGeUP GROUND.

Thanks to the DID technology in this system, CHANGeUP GROUND does not manage the personal data of resident-company employees. Instead, each employee proves who they are using their own affiliation data and then uses the facilities and services, which means everyone controls and manages their own information themselves.
CHANGeUP GROUND is a startup space POSCO operates to nurture venture companies, and the full rollout of the blockchain DID identity verification system has strengthened its technical security so that resident companies can focus on developing innovative technology with peace of mind. POSCO is building a venture valley in Pohang, drawing on the strong industry-academia-research infrastructure of POSTECH and RIST, with the ambition of becoming a cradle for unicorn companies that surpasses Silicon Valley. CHANGeUP GROUND was created to systematically nurture the companies founded in that valley.
More and more institutions and companies are taking an interest in data exchange that puts the user at the center, and this CHANGeUP GROUND deployment is expected to be a starting point for data exchange through DID. ICONLOOP will keep working with POSCO and partner organizations to build leading examples of DID-based, user-centric data exchange.
