Four months in, Jeju Safe Code has become the backbone of the island's tourism quarantine effort
Jeju Safe Code, the service ICONLOOP runs for Jeju Self-Governing Province, has sailed past 13 million entry verifications and 570,000 app sign-ups in roughly four months of full operation, establishing itself as the service responsible for the region's tourism quarantine effort.
Jeju Safe Code is installed at more than 45,000 locations across the island — including every branch of Jeju Bank, the NongHyup Bank head office, Shinhan Bank, Starbucks, and Paris Baguette on Jeju, along with major institutions, public facilities, and tourist attractions — and is being put to active use in tracing and tracking the movements of confirmed cases.
With tourist numbers to Jeju recovering as the April outing season arrives, there is concern about a new wave of COVID-19 spreading on the island. Anyone who must travel here should observe social distancing and keep an entry record using Jeju Safe Code.

Clear weather has brought a sharp rise in visitors to Jeju this spring, and with it louder concern about COVID-19 spreading.
