Blockchain-based press credentials for Seoul's 2021 citizen reporters

ICONLOOP has begun issuing blockchain-based citizen reporter IDs to the 2021 class of Seoul Citizen Reporters. Because the ID is issued on a blockchain, it cannot be forged, altered, or fraudulently issued, and the ID itself can be checked and submitted with ease through Zzeung, the DID identity verification service.

Zzeung

A blockchain-based DID identity verification service developed by ICONLOOP. Designated an Innovative Financial Service by the Financial Services Commission (FSC), it is behind Korea's first DID issuance in the financial sector and Jeju Safe Code, the island's tourism quarantine system, and it is set to carry a mobile driver's license as well through the ICT regulatory sandbox.

These blockchain-based credentials are already at work across public institutions, business, and education — from letters of appointment for the Seoul Blockchain Governance Team to degree certificates for POSTECH graduates.

The recipients of this round of blockchain-based Seoul Citizen Reporter IDs are the reporters chosen in the regular 2021 recruitment. Seoul Citizen Reporters cover the city's major policies, facilities, events, and everyday information, producing Seoul news reported by citizens and delivered to citizens, and publish it on Seoul in My Hands, the city's flagship communication portal. Their term runs a full year, from January to December 2021.
