ICONLOOP CEO JH Kim on DID, the year ahead and where the industry is headed

An interview with ICONLOOP ran in Decenter on November 26.
It covers a lot of ground: CEO JH Kim's philosophy on DID, the topic of the year worldwide; the businesses and services ICONLOOP is focusing on in that space; and the company's plans for next year along with his outlook for the industry. Have a read. :)
Kim laid out his philosophy on DID. On the market's expansion, he said it was "a very good thing, as long as everyone sticks to the principles" — his point being that large companies entering the market is welcome, but rolling out DID as a way to lock users in is not the right approach.
"DID has to be usable on any platform, in whatever form its owner wants," Kim stressed. "A DID that only works on one particular platform doesn't square with the phrase 'self-sovereign identity.'" He added that ICONLOOP, too, will work toward supporting DID that can be used anywhere.
.
Looking ahead, he expects services to stop being tied to platforms and instead combine and separate as needed, and he described DID as the underlying technology that makes that possible. "The push to overcome the limits of technology never stops," Kim said. "It wasn't that the technology was lacking — it was that we hadn't found the technology that fit the market." He went on: "Every service has gone through the same cycle of coming together and breaking apart. We will probably see platforms and services reconfigured before long."
