Jeju's New Deal comprehensive plan makes active use of the Jeju Safe Code.

On the 12th, Jeju Province Governor Won Hee-ryong announced the "Jeju-style New Deal comprehensive plan." The plan includes a policy of making active use of the Jeju Safe Code, the Jeju-style tourism quarantine system built on blockchain DID that ICONLOOP and Jeju developed together.
In the announcement, Governor Won said that "through preemptive measures such as suspending visa-free entry, fever screening at the airport and seaports, and free flu vaccinations for all residents, Jeju has kept the lowest confirmed case count in the country and continues to build and strengthen its brand as a 'clean, safe' region," adding that "we will adopt the Jeju Safe Code for entry verification as part of our quarantine effort."
"The Jeju Safe Code is simpler than the government's KI-PASS while offering more powerful quarantine functions, and because it is based on blockchain there is no risk of personal data leaking. With it, we will lead the country with a safe and smart quarantine system," he said.

The Jeju Safe Code is a Jeju-style tourism quarantine system developed through a public-private partnership between Jeju Province and ICONLOOP. Using blockchain identity verification (DID) technology, visitors can check in simply by scanning the QR code posted at a venue — the phone's own camera is enough to capture it.
It clears away the burdens that usually come with adopting a visit-verification service: buying QR code scanners and other equipment, assigning staff to operate them, the queues that build up during check-in, and the hassle of generating a QR code for every single verification. That lightens the load on business owners and maximizes convenience for users. And because verification runs on de-identified information, it protects user privacy while building a fast, accurate quarantine system.
Through the Jeju Safe Code, ICONLOOP and Jeju Province will let travelers enjoy the island in a safer environment, and build a sustainable model for tourism in the COVID-19 era.

What is blockchain?
Often called the technology of trust, blockchain distributes and stores data such as transaction records across every user participating in the network, which makes it highly reliable and secure because the information cannot be forged or altered. It is being applied to services worldwide in finance, DID (decentralized identifiers), healthcare and logistics, and is regarded as a foundational technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
What is DID?
DID (Decentralized Identifier) is a self-sovereign approach to authentication in which individuals manage their own data directly. It is a blockchain-based identity verification technology that stores verified personal information on the user's smartphone, then lets them pick out only the information needed and submit it easily whenever verification is required. Because blockchain guarantees the integrity of the submitted information, anything already verified once can be used for safe and convenient identity verification without going through a central authority for re-verification.
