* This is the newsletter the MyID Alliance sent to its partner companies in October.

Here is what the MyID Alliance has been up to over the past month.

With the arrival of autumn, the season of abundance and harvest, the MyID-based services we have been preparing are reaching the public one by one, and they are drawing a great deal of interest and support.

First, on Zzeung — the MyID-based service that drew attention in late August as Korea's first commercial DID service in the financial sector — we ran the Zzeung real-name verification issuance event jointly with Shinhan Bank. More than 3,000 people were issued Shinhan Bank real-name credentials within just three days of the event opening, a clear sign of how much interest the general public has in DID in the financial sector.

VisitMe, the MyID-based visitor management service, is proving out its potential as well: roughly four months after launching as an electronic visitor log for tracing COVID-19 cases in June, it has been adopted by more than 1,000 venues and has passed about 200,000 users.

Meanwhile, the DID-based Jeju tourism quarantine system — which lets every tourist and resident visiting Jeju check in easily at attractions and restaurants by scanning a QR code with the Zzeung app — is being piloted under the name Jeju Safe Code at some 100 venues across Jeju and at the provincial government office. It was made mandatory at the Tamna Drive-In Concert over the Chuseok holiday, and preparations for a full-scale rollout of the service are nearly complete.

At tech+ Jeju 2020, Hee-ryong Won, Governor of Jeju Province, expressed his confidence in and ambitions for the service, saying, "We plan to open Jeju Safe Code to the public before long. Through DID, we will give tourists an environment where they can visit Jeju with peace of mind, and give Jeju a fast and accurate response system for infection control."

Beyond that, MyID is cooperating on building a digital ID ecosystem in Pohang through a business agreement for building the Pohang data ecosystem, signed with ICONLOOP, Pohang City and other organizations — and is exploring new business opportunities with a number of other local governments as well.

The MyID Alliance will keep working with all of you, our partners, through ongoing cooperation and networking to create new business opportunities and open up a new era of digital identity.
