ICONLOOP CTO Edward Ryu on reclaiming data sovereignty through DID.
At the Blockchain Business Forum for the Digital Economy Era, hosted by BlockStreet and Ants CoinNet at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 22nd, ICONLOOP Director Edward Ryu (CTO, Chief Technology Officer) gave a talk titled Reclaiming Data Sovereignty Through DID.

At the event, CTO Ryu said that DID can head off the side effects of platform consolidation that have been surfacing lately, and that a time is coming when people will be able to profit from trading their own personal data, laying out a new digital business model built on DID.
COVID-19, which has continued from February through to today, has left most companies in negative growth, yet global fintech and platform players such as Facebook, Google, NAVER and Kakao are posting strong growth. Take this as a chance to revisit the problems in how user data is managed and used as those platforms grow ever larger, to remind yourself once more why self-sovereignty over data matters, and to see the new opportunities it opens up.
