On the 4th, at CIO Summit 2020 — the annual event that brings C-level executives the latest IT and digital trends they need to run their business — ICONLOOP CTO Edward Ryu gave a talk titled "Reclaiming Data Sovereignty Through DID."
As the age of platforms arrives, so do a range of problems caused by platform monopolies. These platforms lock users and data inside their own ecosystems and control them. Blockchain-based decentralization is emerging as an alternative, and within it DID is drawing attention as the tool for handing data sovereignty back to the users it was taken from. The talk examined what decentralization actually means, and looked at DID as the foundation that underpins it.

Currently CTO of ICONLOOP. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from POSTECH and a master's degree in Computer Engineering from the same university's graduate school.
